Who are Mormons?

Also known as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mormons are members of a bizarre and dangerous cult began by Joseph Smith, that rejects the One True God, the Lord Jesus Christ

Independence Baptist Church provides sermons and other materials to expose cults, as well as to equip the saints to defend the true faith, based on the King James Bible.

Mormons Believe THAT???

Reasons To Reject Mormonism

By Sam Adams, Pastor

While Mormons claim to be true Christians, the Mormon religion is as anti-Christian as any religion can be, promoting a false Jesus and Satanic doctrines of devils while incorporating pagan rituals and rites stolen directly from Freemasonry into its so-called “Temple” worship. The religion began in the early 1800’s as concocted by a treasure-hunting charlatan named Joseph Smith who claimed to have been visited by God the Father and Jesus Christ, who he claimed informed him that the Christian churches of his day were all preaching a false gospel, had corrupted His word (the Bible) and that Smith had been chosen to restore the “true” Christian faith – to which Smith later dared to add the Satanic lie that all men can become gods of their own universe if they live holy lives. While history and archeology confirm and prove the truth of the KJV Bible, the opposite is true of the writings of Joseph Smith, which the LDS church calls its “scripture.” As many Mormons have come to see, the true facts of history show Joseph Smith to have been a fraud, a false prophet and an immoral charlatan who was used of Satan to launch a diabolical attack against the true and Biblical Christian faith.

Undeniable Proof That Joseph Smith was a Fraud

1. Evidence shows Smith’s claim to have received a visit from God the Father and Jesus Christ in 1820 to be FALSE. Smith never made the claim until 1842; the story was then later included in the Pearl of Great Price. Smith claimed he was told twice in the vision not to join any of the churches, but then he later joined the Methodist Church where his wife was a member, which he’d surely not have done if the story was true. Records show Joseph was expelled from the church in 1828, because of his belief in magic and also because of his “money-digging activities” – for which he’d also been arrested and paid a fine. Further, Brigham Young denied the story, saying in an 1855 sermon, “…[the] Lord did not come…to Joseph Smith but sent His angel.” John Taylor said the same thing on March 2, 1879 (J.of D. 20:167). Heber C. Kimball and George A. Smith also denied the story (J.of D., 6:29, 12:333-334) and it was not accepted by the LDS Church until the 1880’s. Smith claimed he first shared the story with a Methodist preacher, which caused “all men of high standing” and “the great ones of the most popular sects” in the town to persecute him bitterly – yet there are no local records of any such event as there should be. In Smith and Oliver Cowdery’s early LDS publication Messenger and Advocate, vol. 1 p. 79, Smith says after his brother Alvin’s death and his mother, sister and two brothers had joined the Presbyterian Church, he started to seek religion and pray “if some Supreme Being existed…” – which he’d never have done if the 1820 visitation story was true. All these facts taken together prove that the alleged visitation never actually took place – i.e., the story was an afterthought, and a lie.

2. Impossibilities in the Book of Mormon Prove it to be False. Joseph Smith claimed the Book of Mormon, his first book, is “the most correct of any book on earth,” but the following facts actually show it to be pure fiction and a fanciful fabrication:

Impossible Language: 1 Ne. 1:2, etc., says Hebrews who left Jerusalem and came to the Americas spoke Egyptian, and Mormon 9:32, 34, states the language was “reformed Egyptian” and that no other people knew their language. There is no known language called “reformed Egyptian.” Hebrews spoke Hebrew, and Egyptians were their enemies.

Impossible Animals & Plants: The Book of Mormon says several species of animals inhabited the Americas at the time of the alleged migration in 600 BC that were not in America at the time, being first introduced by Europeans over 2,000 years later – including horses, domestic cattle, asses, leopards, sheep, oxen, chickens, domestic dogs, and honey bees. The book also mentions wheat, barley, and olives that were also not in the Americas at the time of the alleged migration.

Impossible Population: The Book of Mormon says when Lehi left Jerusalem his group had fewer than 20 people. Yet 19 years later the people had so multiplied that they built a temple, “the manner of construction was like unto the temple of Solomon: and the workmanship thereof was exceeding fine” (2. Ne. 5:16). In less than 30 years after arrival they had allegedly multiplied so rapidly that they even divided into two nations; and further, every few years, they had devastating wars that allegedly killed thousands (i.e., Alma 28:2).  Smith’s imaginative numbers are well beyond impossibly absurd. Even if Lehi’s group consisted of 10 married couples that bore a child every year (doubtful), the entire group could only produce at most 200 offspring in 19 years, many of whom would still be infants and small children. Such a population could never have so soon built a temple to equal Solomon’s, which the Bible says took 30,000 Israelites, 80,000 stone cutters, 70,000 carriers and 3,300 supervisors 7 years to build (I Ki. 5-6).

Impossible Ancestry: The book teaches that American Indians descended from the Jewish settlers (and that dark skin resulted from disobedience to the Mormon gospel). DNA science has disproven the former notion, and the LDS church abandoned the latter.

Disproven by Archeology: While archeological finds abound in and around Israel to confirm many of the Bible’s Old and New Testament historical accounts, there is not one shred of such evidence, despite extensive efforts by many dedicated Mormons over a century and a half to find such, providing ANY support for Smith’s accounts presented in the Book of Mormon, of a small Hebrew sect’s migration in 600 BC to the Americas to build two flourishing civilizations that allegedly covered the earth with buildings, and that later fought a huge battle on or near the hill Cumorah in New York where hundreds of thousands of people armed with steel swords and wheeled chariots were killed and left unburied (Mor. 6:10-15). In the 1930’s, B. H. Roberts, a Mormon scholar and General Authority in the LDS Church, questioned the Book of Mormon in a manuscript of more than 400 pages that remained secret until it was published relatively recently– wherein he admitted that the Book of Mormon is in conflict with what was known from twentieth century archaeology about the early inhabitants of America. Roberts also revealed that Smith had another outside source for the story line of the book, that being Ethan Smith’s View of the Hebrews, a book that predated the Mormon scripture by seven years. Another well-known Mormon apologist was Thomas Stuart Ferguson, a lawyer who in 1941 devoted his life and personal wealth to proving the Book of Mormon to be true and founded BYU’s “New World Archaeological Foundation” for that purpose; but after 25 years of dedicated archeological research, not  one piece of evidence was ever found to back up the book’s claims, and in fact, the evidence that was unearthed showed ancient ruins that Smith claimed to be from the Nephite civilization were actually built centuries after the BOM period. Thus Ferguson concluded the Book of Mormon to be “fictional.” Later, when Smith’s Book of Abraham was proven to be a fraud, Ferguson determined Joseph Smith to be a false prophet.

3. Smith’s “Book of Abraham” has been proven to be a Colossal Fraud. This point raises perhaps the greatest disproof of the credibility and truth of Mormonism.

In 1835, a traveling exhibit of Egyptian mummies and papyri scrolls arrived at Kirtland, Ohio, then home of the Mormon sect. Smith examined the scrolls and “prophetically” declared that “one of the rolls contained the writings of Abraham, another the writings of Joseph of Egypt.” Smith purchased the entire exhibit for the sum of $2400, and then over the next few years undertook to “translate” the papyri’s hieroglyphics, while also producing 3 hand-drawn facsimiles or copies of the papyri that he included in his translated “Book of Abraham” with explanations of what they contained. At that time, very few people in the world were qualified to even attempt to translate Egyptian writings. However, Smith’s “translation” was finally published in full in 1842. After Joseph Smith’s untimely death at the Carthage, Illinois jail in 1844, Smith’s (first) wife Emma kept possession of the original scrolls and sold them in 1856. The scrolls themselves were later thought to have been destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871; but from Smith’s facsimiles as published in the Pearl of Great Price, Non-Mormon Egyptologists, beginning in the late 1800’s, refuted Smith’s translation.  In 1912, a Mr. Arthur Mace, Assistant Curator in the Egyptian Art section of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, wrote as follows about the Book of Abraham:

“I return herewith, under separate cover, the ‘Pearl of Great Price.’ The ‘Book of Abraham,’ it is hardly necessary to say, is a pure fabrication. Cuts 1 and 3 are inaccurate copies of well-known scenes on funeral papyri, and cut 2 is a copy of one of the magical discs which in the late Egyptian period were placed under the heads of mummies. There were about forty of these latter known in museums and they are all very similar in character. Joseph Smith’s interpretation of these cuts is a farrago of nonsense from beginning to end. Egyptian characters can now be read almost as easily as Greek, and five minutes’ study in an Egyptian gallery of any museum should be enough to convince any educated man of the clumsiness of the imposture.”

Nonetheless, the LDS church continued to defend the Book of Abraham saying the facsimiles were insufficient to prove that translation to be in error. However, in 1967, the original preserved papyri were found in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, closely matching Smith’s facsimiles. There is no doubt these are portions of Smith’s original purchase, being pasted onto paper containing drawings on the back of an LDS temple and maps of the Kirtland, Ohio area, and also accompanied by an affidavit from Joseph Smith’s first wife Emma stating that they had been in Smith’s possession.

After the scrolls were recovered, trained Egyptologists in the late 1960s and early 1970s determined that the texts Smith had used showed no similarity to what he had published as the Book of Abraham. In fact, the findings confirmed exactly what Arthur Mace had stated in 1912 when it was determined that they were Egyptian burial manuals written hundreds of years after the time of Abraham, nowhere containing Abraham’s name. More recently, University of Chicago Egyptologist Robert K. Ritner concluded in 2014 that the source of the Book of Abraham is the “Breathing Permit of Hôr, misunderstood and mistranslated by Joseph Smith”, and that the other papyri are common Egyptian funerary documents like the Book of the Dead.  All of this of course proves beyond any reasonable doubt that the Book of Abraham is a complete fraud from start to finish. And this is the authority for most of the more Satanic doctrines held to by Mormons today, which contradict both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. This leads to our next point:

4. Blatant and embarrassing contradictions in doctrine exist between the Book of Mormon and the Book of Abraham and Doctrine and Covenants.

This is yet another devastating disproof of Mormonism’s credibility. Aside from its false tales of a Hebrew migration, the Book of Mormon is similar to the KJV Bible in doctrine and theology. However, from the time the Book of Mormon was printed in 1830, until Joseph Smith’s untimely death in 1844, Smith’s doctrine changed drastically. It was not until 1844 that Smith started to preach the blasphemous multi-god doctrine that “as man is now, God once was; and as God is now, man can become.” As a result, there are many significant contradictions between the Book of Mormon and what is accepted today as fundamental Mormon theology, doctrine and practice, as taught in Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price with its Book of Abraham. These include:

(a).  The Book of Mormon (as with the Bible) teaches that there is only one God. (Mosiah 15:1,5; 2 Nephi 31:21 (3 Nephi 11:27); Alma 11:28-31). These passages confirm the teaching of the Bible, which says:

Isaiah 43:10: Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.”

Isaiah 44:6-8: Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God…Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

1 Corinthians 8:4: “…[W]e know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.”

James 2:19: “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.”

These passages all refute the later Mormon heresy that all men can become gods, which is the very same lie that Satan the devil deceived Eve with in the Garden of Eden.

(b).  The Book of Mormon teaches that the one God exists as a Trinity – i.e., as three separate Persons in one Godhead (Mosiah 15:5, 2 Nephi 31:21, & Alma 11:44, which speaks of a final judgment, “before the bar of Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is one Eternal God”). These passages refute later Mormon doctrine that the Trinity is three separate gods (Articles of Faith, 1985, p.35) and confirms the KJV Bible’s teaching at Is. 48:12-16, 1 Jn. 5:7, 2 Cor. 13:14, Col. 2:9, etc.

(c).     The Book of Mormon condemns the practice of Polygamy (Jacob 1:15; 2:23-31; 3:5; Mosiah 11:2-4; Ether 10:5-7), confirming the teaching of the KJV Bible at Dt. 17:17, 1 Tim. 3:2,12 & Titus 1:6. Further, Smith’s 1st edition of Doctrine and Covenants (1835) calls polygamy a “crime of fornication” (§ 101:4). However, in 1876 this was replaced with God’s strange “command” to practice polygamy (D&C 132).

This doctrine truly arose by necessity rather than by “revelation.” When Smith’s first wife Emma discovered his adulterous affairs, his secretary William Clayton and brother Hyrum suggested that Smith write a “revelation” where God instructs Joseph to have other wives. Joseph said Emma would not believe it, but Clayton wrote it and Hyrum took it to her. Emma did not believe it, but accepted Smith’s polygamy until his death, denying it afterward. Smith married 52 wives (many of whom were already married to other men), beginning with his affair with Fanny Alger in 1834, though the 1890 D&C said the concocted “revelation from God” was not “received” until July 12, 1843.

Out of this concocted doctrine arose the associated Mormon heresies that polygamy will be the rule in heaven, that women need husbands for resurrection at the end of time, and without husbands to “lift their veil” on resurrection day women will be excluded – all absurd doctrines that were flatly refuted by the Lord Jesus himself when he said in Matt. 22:30 that, “…in the resurrection men neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven We would challenge any and all Mormons to prove that these words in the KJV Bible were mistranslated. To the contrary, these very words were confirmed as quoted verbatim in the 2nd century AD by Justin Martyr in his classic work, Dialogue With Trypho, a Jew (ch. 81).

(d) The Book of Mormon (with the Bible) teaches that God Does Not Change, thus condemning the Mormon doctrine of “Continuing Revelation.”  This is another Mormon doctrine that arose by necessity rather than by “revelation” – in order to justify the aforesaid contradictions resulting from Smith’s drastic changes in doctrine in his later years, as he (blasphemously) recorded in Journal of Discourses that God is increasing in knowledge (J/D Vol.6, p.120).  To the contrary, Mormon 9:9-10 says, “For do we not read that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and in him there is no variableness neither shadow of changing? 10 And now, if ye have imagined up unto yourselves a god who doth vary, and in whom there is shadow of changing, then have ye imagined up unto yourselves a god who is not a God of miracles.”  See also similar statements at Moroni 8:18; Alma 41:8; & 3 Nephi 24:6.

The above contradictions in doctrine between the Book of Mormon, which Joseph Smith called the “most correct book of any on earth, and what is today held as fundamental Mormon doctrine, should cause major problems for Mormons today. And rather than seeing such contradictions as the result of continuing revelation, every Mormon should instead see these contradictions as Satanic confusion.  Paul says in 1 Cor. 14:33, “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” Furthermore, God’s word the Bible – the King James Version – says that God’s word and God’s doctrine does not change. In Jude v.3 we are instructed NOT to be receptive to new doctrines resulting from continuing revelation, but instead we are to earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” That phrase “once delivered” means once and for all time.  Our God, the true God of the Bible – does not lie and does not contradict Himselfever.  In Malachi 3:6 He says, For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. God’s doctrine does not change, and He is not the author of confusion – and therefore every Mormon needs to see therefore that God is also not the author of the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, OR the Doctrine and Covenants of the LDS church.

5. Smith’s forbidden, pagan practice of Divination as learned from his parents could NEVER produce true Scripture or Revelation from God.

The method Smith actually used to “translate” the Book of Mormon is strictly forbidden by the Old Testament Law. Long before his alleged visit from the angel Moroni, Smith built a reputation as a magician, diviner and “glass-looker” (for which he used the same “peep stone” later used to “translate” the alleged Golden Plates). Stories circulated early on that Smith’s family was involved in “blessing crops, finding lost articles, or prophesying, using divine rods and seer stones.” Because Deuteronomy 18:10-12 says all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD, the LDS church denied such stories for over a century, until 1971 when a researcher found county documents in the basement of the Norwich, New York jail recording Smith’s 1826 arrest and conviction of being a “disorderly person and an imposter.” Trial evidence records Smith using a “certain stone” to find hidden treasure, lost articles, old gold mines, and buried money.” This occupation got Smith expelled from his wife’s Methodist church. Some witnesses to Smith’s alleged translation of the Golden Plates later left the LDS Church and said he used a “peep stone” placed in the bottom of a stove-pipe hat rather than alleged “Urim and Thummim” spectacles to translate the plates while they were supposedly hidden in a nearby forest. So the peep stone that failed to find buried treasure and got Smith convicted of fraud was the same device Smith also used to write the book of Mormon.

To the contrary: God’s word the KJV Bible tells us very plainly where His true word, the true Scriptures come from, and it doesn’t come through some strange prophetic gift of discerning Egyptian hieroglyphics or from buried golden plates that have to be deciphered and translated using methods and tools of divination that are condemned in scripture – as Joseph Smith both claimed and employed. The Bible says in 1 Peter 1:21, “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”  And the evidence proves that what we now know Joseph Smith Jr. to have been – a lying, cheating, wife-stealing, adulterous fraud and con artist who practiced the magic arts and, as will be shown next, transferred the Satanic rites, rituals and doctrines of occultic Freemasonry directly into the LDS church, was anything BUT a “holy man of God.”

6. The TRUE source of Smith’s later doctrines and Temple Ritual was Satanic, Occultic Freemasonry. For many decades the LDS church attempted to conceal this damning truth from the public, until it was publicly revealed by Dr. Reed Durham, former Director of the LDS Institute of Religion, in a public lecture in 1974. At that lecture Durham also displayed the Jupiter Talisman that Smith carried on his person from 1826 until his death for its “magic powers.” Durham stated in the lecture:

There is absolutely no question in my mind that the Mormon ceremony which came to be known as the Endowment, introduced by Joseph Smith to Mormon Masons initially, just a little over one month after he became a Mason, had an immediate inspiration from Masonry.  This is not to suggest that no other source of inspiration could have been involved, but the similarities between the two ceremonies are so apparent and overwhelming that some dependent relationship cannot be denied.

This explains both the reason Smith’s doctrine changed drastically in his later years and the true source of his new doctrines – they came NOT “by revelation from God” but from the beliefs and rites of Freemasonry. Joseph Smith was expedited into Masonry on March 15, 1842, and remained a member until his death. On May 4-5, 1842, a few weeks after learning the Masonic rituals, Smith introduced those very same rituals into the LDS endowment ceremony, including Masonry’s nearly identical tokens, blood oaths, signs, penalties, prayer circle, new name ritual, apron, etc. To this day, true to their Masonic oaths, Mormons will not discuss the temple ceremony – saying they’re not secret, but “sacred.” The Satanic idolatry of Freemasonry is here summarized by one source:

“The Masonic Lodge has its own inoffensive, politically correct god who is known as ‘the great architect of the universe’ (G.A.O.T.U.) or ‘the supreme being.’ Masonry boasts that every Mason can approach this god, regardless of his religion, in the “neutral” atmosphere of the Lodge-room. In doing so, the divergent brethren unite together in common worship by prayers, salutations and hymns to this innocuous being . .  To the Jewish brother our science says, Take the Father of the faithful. To the Christian brother it points to Him upon whose breast lay the beloved disciple. To the Buddhist it points to the Maitreya of the universal compasssion; and to the Moslem it points to the Prophet . . . You have learned that Freemasonry calls God ‘The Great Architect of the Universe’ (G.A.O.T.U.). This is the Freemason’s special name for God, because he is universal. He belongs to all men regardless of their religious persuasion. All wise men acknowledge His authority. In his private devotions a Mason will pray to Jehovah, Mohammed, Allah, Jesus or the Deity of his choice. In a Masonic Lodge, however, the Mason will find the name of his Deity within the G.A.O.T.U.”

The Masonic Lodge rituals in reality attempts to bundle the true God of the Bible – Jehovah – together with all the many false gods in to a grand all-embracing figure who belongs to all. This theology is known as syncretism – i.e. “all roads lead to God.” The Masonic Lodge unveils the mongrel name for this Masonic god in the “Royal” Arch degree of the York Rite: As … ‘Jah-Bal-On.’ . . . This is one of the most guarded secrets throughout all the Masonic Lodge rituals and degrees. The candidate is then told that “It is the name of Deity in three language, viz Chaldee, Hebrew and Syriac. Which is the long lost master Mason’s word, and has now become the Grand Omnific Royal Arch Word” . . . The Masonic Lodge, thus, blasphemously unites the God of the Bible – Jehovah – with the pagan gods of Syria – Baal – and of Egypt – On – into a man-made anti-scriptural trinity…” [see more]

This of course just scratches the surface of the tip of the iceberg of the Satanic idolatry and occultism of Freemasonry. And THIS IS THE SOURCE, not only of the Mormon temple ritual, for the majority of the Satanic doctrines that Joseph Smith later developed, and that contradict both the Book of Mormon and the Bible – including his idolatrous views of God and especially of the Lord Jesus Christ that were included in the Book of Abraham. This also includes also the qualifications for and nature of the Mormon priesthood, the plurality of gods, a pre-mortal human existence, the deification of man, and the nature of the cosmos, identifying the star or planet Kolob.

ALL OF THESE abominable, aberrant and bizarre doctrines are flatly condemned in the TRUE scriptures, the King James Bible, to which the LDS church gives lip service only – but that every Mormon should pick up, start reading and adopt as his sole authority for true Christian doctrine and practice.

God’s word the Bible condemns Mormonism’s plurality of gods doctrine – and says in multiple passages that there is only ONE God: and that this one God is a “triune” being of three distinct persons in one Godhead; Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit. Here (again) are just a few of many statements in the Bible that there is only one God:

Isaiah 43:10-11 – Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

Isaiah 44:6-8 – Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God . . . Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

James 2:19 – Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.     [Note: James says here it is not enough to believe there is only one God – even the devils believe that!  Why don’t Mormons see it?]

The Reliability and Accuracy of the King James Bible

The entire Mormon religion is predicated on Joseph Smith’s claim that all Christian sects of his day had apostatized from true Christianity and that the King James Bible had been corrupted. To the contrary however; not only has Joseph Smith been proven to have been a fraud, but we also know that God’s true word the KJV Bible has been proven over and over to be true both historically and archeologically. It is indeed true that the Christian faith of the apostles became corrupted by the rise of Roman Catholic cult, which in turn produced a corrupted Bible text that most of today’s “Bible” versions (perversions) are taken from; but that’s because the Catholic cult drastically departed from the teachings of the Scriptures that Christ’s true apostles left to us.

However, just as the Lord Jesus promised in Matt. 24:35 that though heaven and earth shall pass away, “My words shall not pass away” – so He also moved the Psalmist to write in Psalms 12:6-7,  “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.  7  Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever” – and also moved the prophet Isaiah to write, as quoted by the apostle Peter – that the “grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth forever.”

To keep those promises, the one true God saw to it that His New Testament Scriptures were preserved for the early Waldensian and other non-conformist Christians who refused to apostatize with the Roman Catholic cult; so that by the middle of the second century AD the New Testament Greek text as received by the early church was also translated into the old Roman Latin to confirm and preserve the proper wording of the New Testament text, until it was later faithfully incorporated into the Textus Receptus, so it could then be faithfully translated into English by the KJV translators.

Furthermore, in addition to archeological support, the Dead Sea scrolls and the Hebrew and Jewish confirmation of the Masoretic Old Testament text from which the King James Bible was translated, we also have thousands of quotes of the New Testament made by several early Christian writers confirming almost every verse of the text.

However – in all the annals of early Christian history there is not one Christian writer that in any way confirms the aforementioned Satanic doctrines of devils that were espoused by Joseph Smith and today’s LDS church.

The REAL Lord Jesus Christ

The Jesus of the LDS Church is a counterfeit – NOT AT ALL the virgin-born Son of God of the Bible. We read in Matt. 1:21 that a real angel – sent by God, not by Lucifer – appeared to Joseph, the husband of Mary, saying of Mary, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” Then Matthew says in the next verse, “Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,  23  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”  As Matthew says here, Christ’s birth of a virgin is the fulfillment of Isaiah 7:14, and is also confirmed at Luke 1:26-35.

We also read in the real Bible, in Philippians 2:6-11 – that Jesus was already God long before he willingly humbled himself to take on human flesh – to become Immanuel, God with Us – so he could go to the cross to bear the full penalty for all of our sin. However, rather than being “Emmanuel,” “God with us” as the Bible says, who then then took on human flesh and became a man in order to be our Redeemer and Savior, the Jesus of the LDS church is a mere created being who also had to be redeemed.

Rather than being born of a virgin, conceived of the Holy Ghost as the Bible teaches, the counterfeit Jesus of the LDS Church was sired by Adam, who as an exalted resurrected being came to Mary and physically fathered Jesus. Thus the Mary of the LDS church was not a Virgin who brought forth a son as the Bible teaches – but was a physically impregnated “wife” of the Heavenly Father, whom Brigham declared to be Adam.

Brigham Young taught that Jesus was a “spirit child” of Adam and “spirit brother” of all human kind, as well as a brother of angels, and brother of Lucifer – whereas the Bible teaches that Jesus was and is the eternal Son of God who created all things –  including Lucifer and all the angels. That’s why we read in the opening vss. of John’s gospel:

John 1:1-4“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  2  The same was in the beginning with God.  3  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.  4  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”

That’s also why Paul says of Jesus in Colossians 1:16-17, “…For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:  17  And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Paul makes very similar statements about Jesus also in Hebrews 1:1-4; “…by whom also he made the worlds; 3  Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high…”

Jesus was eternal God long before he humbled himself to willingly become a man to go to the cross for us.  He did that because only God in human flesh could atone for the sins of all mankind throughout all ages. And every Mormon must understand who the real Jesus is to be saved – and also that his own good works are seen as filthy rags and will NOT EVER be sufficient to get him into Christ’s celestial kingdom.

Titus 3:5-7 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;  6  Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;  7  That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

All Mormons who have believed the lies of Joseph Smith stand in real danger of eternal damnation, and by faith must repent & receive the real Lord Jesus Christ of the Bible as his only hope of salvation and eternal life.
